Is the mentorship program really free?
Yes, completely free. There's no cost to mentees or mentors. The program exists to help travel therapists support each other — no hidden fees, no upsells, no strings attached.
Who qualifies for a mentor?
Anyone interested in travel therapy. Whether you're a student considering travel after graduation, a new grad preparing for your first contract, or an experienced permanent clinician thinking about making the switch — you qualify. PTs, OTs, SLPs, PTAs, COTAs, and SLPAs are all welcome.
How are mentors matched with mentees?
We match based on discipline, experience level, and the specific topics you need help with. A PT mentee gets matched with an experienced travel PT. If your main concern is multi-state licensure, we match you with someone who's navigated that process. The goal is always relevant, first-hand experience.
How much time does mentorship take?
Most mentorship relationships involve 2–4 conversations over a few weeks, covering the mentee's biggest questions. Some relationships continue longer if both parties find it valuable. It's entirely flexible — mentors and mentees set their own pace and preferred communication method (phone, text, email).
Will my mentor try to recruit me for a specific agency?
No. Mentors are not affiliated with any agency in their mentorship role, and they don't receive compensation for referrals. If you ask about agencies, they'll share their honest personal experience — but they'll never pressure you toward any particular company. The entire point of mentorship is unbiased guidance.
What disciplines are covered?
The program serves all travel therapy disciplines: Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), and their assistant-level counterparts (PTA, COTA, SLPA). We match within discipline so your mentor understands your specific clinical context.
How do I become a mentor?
If you've completed at least 2–3 travel contracts, you likely have enough experience to be an excellent mentor. Fill out the sign-up form with your discipline, how many contracts you've done, the topics you're most comfortable advising on, and your preferred communication method. We'll add you to the mentor pool and match you when a mentee's needs align. Learn more about becoming a mentor →
What if my mentor can't answer my question?
That's completely normal. No single traveler has experience with every situation. If your mentor doesn't have first-hand knowledge on a topic, they'll likely point you toward helpful resources or other travelers who do. You can also request an additional mentor for specialized questions — there's no limit.
How quickly will I be matched?
Most mentees are matched within a few days. Your mentor will then reach out within 48 hours of being matched. Timing can vary based on your discipline and the specificity of your needs, but we prioritize getting you connected as quickly as possible.
Can I be both a mentor and a mentee?
Absolutely. Many travelers are experienced enough to mentor new grads on getting started, while still benefiting from guidance on advanced topics like tax optimization, career transitions, or travel nursing. There's always more to learn.
